I know that it is not easy starting out as a music therapist. Many people do not even know what we do and even when they seem to be convinced that music can help them, they do not want to pay for it, or do not recognise it as a professional activity; and unfortunately just put on a CD or recruit a volunteer musician who has not had any clinical training to use music as a tool as a form of psychological and social support, communication and expression. It can be really frustrating in this tireless journey but as music therapists we must not give up!
